For a long time Tasmania's mainstay export apple up until the 1980's, of a cannonball consistency and excellent keeping qualities. When left to fully ripen on the tree they are a great eating apple. Brilliant red skin and a crunchy flesh. Quite a sight when all the leaves have fallen and the red orbs are still hanging. It's origin is attributed to Harry Benjafield, in Tasmania in the 1890's, and fondly remembered by many.
