We are a small nursery interested in preserving old fruit tree varieties. For close to 30 years we have been selling a range of fruit tree varieties on dwarf stock that have a big range of fruiting times, colours, textures, tastes and uses - such as cooking, preserving, juicing and making cider.
Our secret is simple. Rather than the supermarket dictating which fruit you eat based on how it can be cool-store or resist bruising and blemishing, you plant a range of fruit trees that ripen at early, mid and late in the season, keeping you in fruit for about six months of the year. Eat seasonal, tree-ripened fruit from your own garden with a variety of tastes, textures, colours and sizes. Our dwarfing fruit trees start to bear within 2-3 years, grow up to 2m tall and and are ideal to train onto wires (espalier).
Unlike other plants that you buy in a pot, we sell our fruit trees bare-rooted - meaning that they are dug up and sent in winter when the tree is dormant. We find this to be by far the best method of cultivating fruit trees, giving you a very vigorous and early fruiting tree. We graft them in winter, watch them shoot in spring, grow them for one year, and send them to you at one year old from the graft.
Please browse our site catalogue with included images where available, or download and print a hard copy. We've included some information on practical things that we think you'll find helpful when planting your orchard.
