Sooner of later everyone seems to have to come to terms with wildlife problems. When someone glibly says "we don't have any wallaby / possum / parrot problems......" - just you wait!
If you make provisions before hand you'll be far better off than throwing up improvised galvanized iron, chicken wire or shade cloth barriers that don't do a good job and scar the landscape. For us it's been a bitter but salutary lesson, hard learned, but we've sort of managed it.
Best is to grow dwarf trees that can be easily covered with a net to protect from birds. Rabbit and wallaby proof your garden with well buried fences that have a flop top or a top electric wire against possums. We have a wonderful dog who patrols our garden at night. It's sad to see your investment devoured nightly by hungry wallabies. |
